Drawings

Copies of the PENFIELD House drawings are available from Carnegie-Mellon architectural archives. I believe the cost is around $8/sheet (USD) plus shipping. They are located in Pittsburgh, PA.

I never got to complete this project. My disabilities prevented me from using the 2-handed key combinations 3D Studio Max required.

Since all of that, my friends the Penfields, have put the estate on the market. I wish them only the best in their retirement. I know the house will be difficult to say goodbye to. I've been visiting the house since 1970 and both Lou and now his son, paul, have been gracious hosts. Donna Penfield... thank you for all the materials and time you gave toward this project.

It's been a week since my last update...

I managed to finish the kitchen. Along the way, I discovered I had a problem with the lights in the foyer. They weren't there (which you can see in the previous post). In fact, they were there, just not where they were supposed to be.

So now, the 1st floor construction is complete. All that is left there to do is furnishings and accessories. Non-built-in furniture probably will not match the existing furniture, but I'll attempt to keep it as authentic as I can.

Below you can see the completed kitchen and the corrected foyer lights:

In this image you can see the start to furnishing:

While I continue with the kitchen...

Here's a progress update of the interior thus far:

Since I'm still in construction phase...

Is it necessary to show the interior of the bathrooms? The powder room is only a 4'x4' 'cubicle'.

Back from sick leave...

It's been a few days since the last post. Here is a look into the foyer that I rendered prior to getting sick:

I've yet to work on anymore furniture. I think it's best to finish construction before I worry about furnishing it.

Completing the kitchen is the next project. I was able to find a sink and cooktop. I'll have to install the stainless countertop prior to installing those.

Seems strange being back at the keyboard again.

Always something...

Today I found some errors in the block, specifically the planter in the livingroom. Got those corrected.

I was able to find a 3D model of a Japanese maple for the front planter. It looks amazingly like the one that's there. Got it planted. I also found some firewood for the fireplace.

Starting the dining chairs is freaking me out a bit. I have to visually scale them, using the dining table as my point of reference.
